An ASQA investigation into misrepresentation of vocational education training (VET) courses has led to a conviction and $10,000 fine for Qualify Me! Pty Ltd in the NSW Local Court.
Registered training organisations are being encouraged to apply for funding through the latest round of the Tasmanian Government’s Apprentice and Trainee Training Fund (User Choice), with applications now open. The fund provides subsidies through grants to significantly reduce the cost of providing quality training and assessment for nationally recognised qualifications.
A former Australian rock band member and an ex-professional rugby league player are among 77 regional winners named in an online ceremony for this year’s Queensland Training Awards.
The federal government says $500 million in apprentice subsidies have been paid to more than 51,000 employers under its apprenticeship support program since April.

State Development Minister and Champion for International Education Kate Jones has today approved a $1.5 million rescue package to save struggling education businesses from collapse during the coronavirus pandemic.
TAFE has provided a $92.5 billion benefit to the Australian economy, according to a new analysis that recommends a further $2.5 billion investment in wage subsidies for apprentices to help stem the collapse in new positions. The total annual costs of the TAFE system are $5.7 billion.
Annual registration charges for 2020-21 are being waived. An adjusted invoice will be sent to RTOs in July with zero charge for the RTO annual registration charge.

COAG is now being replaced by the new national cabinet, which first surfaced in March in response to the coronavirus crisis. According to the PM, the national cabinet’s focus will now shift to job creation as Australia begins to exit the coronavirus health crisis.
